The Norfolk Admirals are 2012 American Hockey League Champions following a 6-1 win over the Toronto Marlies Saturday afternoon to complete the series sweep and capture their first Calder Cup title.
A total of 19 Canadian Hockey League graduates were listed on the Admirals' playoff roster with 15 of them dressed in the lineup for the final game including Alexandre Picard who was named Playoff MVP with 16 points in 18 games.
Former Guelph Storm forward Richard Panik opened the scoring for the Admirals with his fifth goal of the playoffs. Spokane Chiefs graduate Tyler Johnson also netted two goals and two assists. Fellow Chiefs' grad Dustin Tokarski earned the win in goal.
Johnson and Tokarski along with Rimouski Oceanic grad Michel Ouellet also captured MasterCard Memorial Cup titles.
