67’s’ Tyler Toffoli Named CHL Player of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67’s is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 20. Toffoli picked up seven points including five goals and two assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-5.
Toffoli’s five goals lifted him to top spot in the CHL with 57 in 68 games. He reached the mark on the strength of a four-goal game to wrap-up the regular season schedule on Sunday against the Sudbury Wolves. He added an assist and was named first star of the 7-3 win with his second five-point game of the season. His week also included a two-point night with a goal and an assist as second star of a 4-3 win over the Oshawa Generals on Friday.
Toffoli, an 18-year-old from Scarborough, ON, is a Los Angeles Kings prospect selected in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. In addition to his CHL-high 57 goals, Toffoli added 51 assists for 108 points to share OHL Top Scorer honours with Jason Akeson of the Kitchener Rangers.
Mark McNeill of the Prince Albert Raiders scored two goals and five assists for seven points in three games to receive award consideration, while Etienne Brodeur of the Lewiston MAINEiacs scored three goals and two assists for five points in two games.
