769 CHL graduates utilizing league scholarship package

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League would like to congratulate the 166 CHL graduates who competed in the 2015 University Cup representing over 78% of all players in the tournament including 25 players on the CIS champion University of Alberta Golden Bears.
The Golden Bears made it back-to-back University Cup titles with a 6-3 victory Sunday night over the UNB Varsity Reds. 100% of the Tournament All-Star team consisted of CHL grads including Most Valuable Player Kruise Reddick, a Tri-City Americans grad on the Golden Bears.
During the 2014-15 season, the CHL proudly awarded 769 graduate players with academic scholarships representing an investment of over $6.2 million this season.
“The CHL’s scholarship program is among the best in the world providing the student athlete the opportunity to pursue their hockey and academic goals,” said CHL President David Branch. “The CHL continues to be the number one supplier of talent to the National Hockey League and to CIS hockey programs.”
Across the league, 769 scholarship recipients are enrolled in 163 various post-secondary institutions across North America with many graduates continuing their hockey careers in CIS programs across the country.
Scholarship Programs throughout the CHL are solely funded by the member clubs of the Western Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League, and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
