Bulls’ Malcolm Subban Named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Malcolm Subban of the Belleville Bulls is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 5 after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a shutout victory and a goals-against-average of 0.49 and a .982 save percentage.
After missing over a month due to injury, Subban returned to the Bulls’ net on Saturday and was solid making 29 saves and earning first star honours as part of a 2-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack. He then claimed first star honours again on Sunday stopping all 25 shots he faced in a 1-0 overtime win over the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors to earn his first shutout of the season.
Subban, a 17-year-old from Rexdale, ON, is playing in his second full OHL season with the Bulls. Eligible for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, in five starts this season he has a 2.19 goals-against-average with a .928 save percentage.
Also considered for the award this week was Mac Carruth of the Portland Winterhawks who went 3-0-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against-average and a .949 save percentage. In the QMJHL, Domenic Graham of the Drummondville Voltigeurs went 2-0-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 2.00 and save percentage of .927.
