Canada to play for U18 Gold at Ivan Hlinka

Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team will play for gold on Saturday at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup following a 2-1 shootout win over Russia in Friday’s Semi-Final.
Canada will face Sweden at 11:00 am Eastern in pursuit of their eighth straight gold medal victory.
Nolan Patrick (Brandon Wheat Kings) scored the lone goal of the shootout in Canada’s triumph.
Dylan Wells (Peterborough Petes) made 16 saves between the pipes in regulation and stopped all three of Russia’s shootout attempts.
Jordan Kyrou (Sarnia Sting) scored Canada’s regulation goal with Tyler Benson (Vancouver Giants) picking up the assist.
Canada outshot Russia 47-18 in the contest.
Sweden defeated Finland 2-1 in Friday’s other Semi-Final.
Team Canada includes 20 players from the Canadian Hockey League including 12 from the Western Hockey League, six from the Ontario Hockey League, and two from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Canada has won gold at the annual summer under-18 tournament seven consecutive years.
