Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced the results of a league-wide fundraising initiative where 36 teams consisting of 352 registered members have raised over $87,000 to date through their participation in Movember helping change the face of men’s health.
During the month of November, the Movember campaign challenges men to grow moustaches to spark conversation and raise vital funds and awareness to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges. As an official global charity, Movember’s vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health.
“Congratulations to all Movember participants for their energy and commitment helping the Canadian Hockey League collectively raise over $87,000 this season,” said CHL President David Branch. “The outstanding support our players, officials, and teams have received from friends, family, sponsors, and fans across the CHL amounts to a contribution of over $547,000 in four years for this worthy cause.”
For the fourth straight year the ‘MOfficials’ are the top fundraising team in the CHL Movember Network raising over $50,000. The group of 126 Western Hockey League officials led by Clayton Hall who has raised over $4,200 are ranked 11th among all registered teams in Canada after finishing sixth last season, and 12th in 2012.
