Knights’ Kevin Bailie Named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Kevin Bailie of the London Knights is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 2 after posting a 4-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.96 and save percentage of .944.
Bailie made 135 saves last week backstopping the Knights to four victories and extending the club’s winning streak to 15 straight games. He capped off an impressive week by making 36 saves on Sunday afternoon then stopped 16 out of 19 shooters to hold onto the 4-3 win in the OHL’s longest shootout in league history. Bailie also earned wins against tough Midwest Division opponents including the Guelph Storm on Saturday where he made 30 saves as second star of a 3-1 win, and on Tuesday against the Kitchener Rangers where he made 39 saves in another 3-1 victory. Bailie’s 30 saves on Friday also helped the Knights defeat the Eastern Conference leading Barrie Colts by a 5-3 score.
Bailie, a 20-year-old from Belleville, ON, is playing in his fifth OHL season and first with the Knights after playing four seasons with the Oshawa Generals. With a 13-4-0-1 record, Bailie is also among league leaders with a goals-against-average of 2.20 and save percentage of .932.
Also considered for the award this week was Rimouski Oceanic rookie Philippe Desrosiers who went 3-0-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 1.67 and save percentage of .950, while Justin Paulic of the Moose Jaw Warriors who went 2-0-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 1.44 and save percentage of .936.
