Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Jonathan Drouin of the Halifax Mooseheads is the CHL Player of the Week for the playoff week ending April 21 after recording nine points in two games scoring three goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-5.

 

Drouin powered the Mooseheads’ offense to two straight wins over the weekend to take a 2-0 series lead over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the QMJHL Semi-Finals.  He started the series by collecting five points in Game 1 on Saturday night with two goals including the game-winner plus three assists as first star of the 6-4 victory.  In Game 2 on Sunday night he picked up four points scoring once and adding three assists including one on Martin Frk’s overtime winner claiming second star honours in the 5-4 win.

 

Drouin, an 18-year-old from St-Agathe, Quebec, is playing in his second season with the Mooseheads and is a top prospect eligible for the 2013 NHL Draft.  The QMJHL’s regular season MVP scored 105 points in 49 games this season and is currently second in playoff scoring with 24 points in 10 games.

 

Also considered for the award this week was St. Louis Blues prospect Ty Rattie of the Portland Winterhawks who scored two goals and four assists for six points in two wins against the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL’s Western Conference Semi-Final.  In the OHL, Washington Capitals prospect Tom Wilson of the Plymouth Whalers scored three goals in two games against the London Knights in the Western Conference Semi-Final.
