Tuesday April 21, 2015
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Louis-Philip Guindon of the Rimouski Oceanic is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the playoff week ending April 19 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record with one shutout victory along with a goals-against-average of 0.34 and save percentage of .984.
Guindon made 61 saves allowing just one goal in three games backstopping the first place Oceanic to a five-game series win over the Gatineau Olympiques. He made 20 saves in his 54 minutes of work including a penalty shot stop just moments into his appearance allowing the Oceanic to comeback and claim a 5-2 victory while earning second star honours. Guindon continued his perfect play in Game 4 of the series on Wednesday turning aside all 26 shots he faced earning first star honours in the 3-0 shutout victory. He finished the series with a 15-save performance in Game 5 on Friday night in a 4-1 victory as the Oceanic advance to the QMJHL Semi-Finals.
Guindon, a Montreal, Quebec, native who turns 20-year-old today, is playing in his third career QMJHL season. He joined the Oceanic from the Drummondville Voltigeurs midway through this season and so far during the 2015 QMJHL playoffs has been the league’s top netminder with a 5-0 record including one shutout and a goals-against-average of 1.02 and save percentage of .953.
