Thursday April 3, 2014
Montreal, QC – The President of the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup selection committee, Paul Wilson, officially announced today at a press conference held at the Hyatt-Regency Hotel in downtown Montreal that the Quebec Remparts has been awarded the opportunity to present the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
“The selection committee rigorously analyzed each candidacy and made a decision based on the evaluation grid,” said Paul Wilson.
“The committee’s decision to select Quebec to host the event is based on the fact that their bid had all the elements from top to bottom to convince us that they would present an excellent 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup: great hockey team, good organizing committee and superior installations. Moreover, we felt that the whole community was behind the bid. Each organization was well-prepared and made very professional presentations.”
“MasterCard congratulates the Remparts for being chosen to host the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup. It will be an incredible experience for the city,” said Milos Vranesevic, Vice President and Head of Marketing, MasterCard Canada. “We are proud that for more than a decade we’ve been the title sponsor of the MasterCard Memorial Cup, and we look forward to an exciting game in Quebec in 2015.”
Two organizations were bidding for the event: Chicoutimi and Quebec City.
Of note, the committee was comprised of five members: Paul Wilson, André L. Baril, Hugues Constantineau, Patrick Lalime and Michel Côté. The MasterCard Memorial Cup championship will be held in Quebec City from the 21st to the 31st of May, 2015.
