Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that top QMJHL scorer Josh Currie of the PEI Rocket is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 2 after scoring five goals and three assists for eight points in four games with a plus-minus rating of plus-3.
After being held pointless in a 5-1 loss to the Drummondville Voltigeurs last Tuesday, Currie’s offense kicked into gear on Wednesday night when he was named first star of a 5-3 victory over the Quebec Remparts scoring twice including one shorthanded marker while adding one assist. He picked up a goal and an assist on Saturday at home in a 4-1 win over the Victoriaville Tigres, then wrapped up the week with three points Sunday in a 4-3 shootout win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Helping the Rocket win their third straight game, Currie scored twice against the Screaming Eagles including his league-high 26th goal of the season and also added an assist before scoring the shootout winner as first star of the game.
