Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Jordon Cooke of the Kelowna Rockets is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 21 posting a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .967.

 

Cooke made 59 saves between the pipes for the Rockets in a pair of victories including a 32-save performance on Thursday where he recorded his second shutout of the season as first star of a 3-0 win over the Prince George Cougars.  He then made 27 saves on Saturday as second star of a 4-2 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings.

 

Cooke, a 19-year-old from Leduc, AB, is playing in his third WHL season with the Rockets.  In 11 games so far this season he carries a 5-5-1-0 record with a goals-against-average of 3.19 and save percentage of .901.

 

Also considered for the award this week was Matt Mahalak of the Plymouth Whalers who posted three wins with a goals-against-average of 2.00 and save percentage of .924, while rookie Philippe Desrosiers of the Rimouski Oceanic went 1-2-0-0 with a shutout victory and a goals-against-average of 2.15 and save percentage of .935.
