Team Russia put an end to an 18-game losing streak on Thursday night winning in Ontario for the first time in SUBWAY Super Series history with a 2-1 victory over Team OHL in Guelph.

The win was recorded in dramatic fashion as Russia scored two third period goals in a short span of 24 seconds to erase a one-goal deficit and upset a stunned Team OHL.

Tyler Graovac (Ottawa 67's) opened the scoring in the second period for Team OHL with a shorthanded goal with a nice deke after accepting a slick pass from 67's teammate Sean Monahan.

The OHL would hold that lead until 12:41 of the third period when Anton Shenfeld completed a tremendous individual effort ripping a shot past Jordan Binnington (Owen Sound Attack) to tie the score.

Maxim Shalunov scored his second goal of the series at 13:05 which held as the game-winner.

Team OHL had chances in the final frame applying pressure with a late power play but could not solve Russian netminder Igor Ustinski who made 23 saves and earned Player of the Game honours.

Binnington took the loss in goal for Team OHL making eight saves on 10 shots, while Malcolm Subban (Belleville Bulls) stopped all seven shots he faced in the first half of the contest.

Graovac earned Player of the Game honours for the OHL.

A Sleeman Centre record crowd of 5,048 attended the game which also featured opening ceremonies with 1972 Summit Series Canadian hero Paul Henderson.

Russia now leads the 2012 SUBWAY Super Series 6-3 in points heading into Game 4 of the series to be played Monday night in Sarnia.  The game can be seen live on Sportsnet and the NHL Network U.S.
