Whitney began the week by earning his third shutout of the season on Friday night and claimed first star honours after making 27 saves as part of a 5-0 victory over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.  On Saturday night he stopped all 19 shots faced in just over 49 minutes of relief against the Quebec Remparts who had already built a first period lead and held on for the 3-1 victory over the Tigres.  Whitney’s week wrapped up with another first star performance in a 7-2 win over the Gatineau Olympiques where he made 35 saves for the second time in four games this month.

Whitney, an 18-year-old from Kentville, Nova Scotia, is playing in his second full QMJHL season with the Tigres.  Selected by the Blackhawks in the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Whitney holds a 21-16-2-4 record this season with a goals-against-average of 3.07 and save percentage of .903 and is fourth in the QMJHL with 1,205 saves.
