Jonathan Bernier Named ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Lewiston MAINEiacs goaltender Jonathan Bernier is the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending May 6, 2007. Bernier, an 18-year-old native of Laval, Quebec posted two playoff victories versus the Val-d\'Or Foreurs in the President Cup Final. Bernier earned a 1.50 goals against average and a .941 save percentage during the two games. Bernier turned aside all 18 shots for the shutout on Friday, May 4, 2007 leading the MAINEiacs to a 4-0 Game one victory. Two nights later, Bernier recorded 30 saves on 33 shots as he guided the MAINEiacs to a 4-3 victory in Game two of their best-of-seven series. Lewiston leads the series 2-0. Bernier was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1st round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Matt Keetley of the Medicine Hat Tigers was the WHL goaltender nominee after posting a 1.51 goals against average and a .952 save percentage during two playoff games. Sebastian Dahm of the Sudbury Wolves was the OHL goaltender nominee after posting a 3.51 goals against average and a .915 save percentage during two playoff games. Each week the CHL recognizes the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week and will present the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Year Award to the CHL\'s top netminder at the conclusion of the 2006-07 season.
