Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Plymouth Whalers’ forward Alex Aleardi is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending September 26. Aleardi netted seven goals and added an assist for eight points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-4.
Aleardi’s week was highlighted by two hat-trick performances including a four-point game with three goals and an assist as first star of a 5-4 shootout loss to the Windsor Spitfires to open the OHL’s regular season schedule last Thursday night. Following a one goal effort on Friday in a 3-2 loss to the London Knights, Aleardi exploded for another three goals to power the Whalers to a 6-2 win over the Barrie Colts as first star of the game on Saturday.
Aleardi, an 18-year-old from Farmington Hills, Michigan, begins his third OHL season as the league’s top scorer after one week of play. Last season he scored a career-best 41 points in 64 games between the Belleville Bulls and the Kitchener Rangers.
